Retinoblastoma

Retinoblastoma is an aggressive form of eye cancer that occurs in young children and is the most common type of eye cancer in children. It typically affects the retina, but can spread to other parts of the eye, including the optic nerve and the brain. Early detection and treatment are important for improving survival and reducing adverse outcomes, such as visual impairment, blindness, and death. Diagnosis of retinoblastoma involves a complete eye exam and imaging of the eye and surrounding areas. Treatment options may include eye surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or a combination of all three. With prompt diagnosis and proper treatment, the prognosis for retinoblastoma is generally good.
