Cancer Metabolomics
Metabolomics is a branch of biochemistry used to study the complex metabolic network inside the human body. It is typically used to analyze metabolites – small molecules including lipids, proteins, and carbohydrates that are associated with diseases. Cancer metabolomics is the evaluation of metabolic profiles in cancer cells, which can be used to improve the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Cancer metabolomics research focuses on the alterations and differences of metabolites between healthy and cancer cells, allowing for the identification of potential biomarkers and drug targets. Cancer metabolomics can reveal the metabolic pathways which are altered in cancer and provide insight into cancer-related processes, helping to establish more efficient and personalized therapies and improve the prognosis of cancer patients.
