Cancer Genetics
Cancer genetics is the study of how genetic changes influence the development and progression of cancer. It involves understanding how various genetic mutations and variations can affect the likelihood of a person getting cancer, how aggressive the cancer may be, and how to select the best treatment. The knowledge generated from cancer genetics research has enabled more effective cancer detection, prevention and treatment. It has also greatly improved our understanding of cancer biology and has resulted in the development of new therapies, diagnostics and personalized medicine.
