Maternal Health
Maternal health is the health of women during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. It is a critical component of women's health, especially as it has a direct effect on the health of both the mother and the baby. Maternal health is closely linked to social, economic, and cultural factors and is often affected by poverty, gender discrimination, and limited access to healthcare and nutrition. Improving maternal health can decrease the risk of maternal mortality and ensure healthy pregnancies, births, and postpartum care. It can also reduce the risks of preterm births, low birth weight, and infant mortality. Good maternal health can lead to healthier and better educated children, which can help to break the cycle of poverty. Achieving good maternal health requires collaboration among healthcare providers, local communities, and governments.
