Cerebrospinal Fluid Analysis
Cerebrospinal fluid analysis is a medical procedure used to evaluate the composition of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). CSF is a clear and colorless fluid that flows around and inside the brain and spinal cord. Analyzing the characteristics of this fluid is important for understanding a range of conditions, and can detect infectious, metabolic, or neoplastic diseases, as well as diagnose certain neurological disorders. The procedure is conducted by collecting a sample of CSF from the spine and then analyzing the sample for signs of disease in a laboratory setting. The information gathered during this analysis can help physicians formulate a definitive diagnosis and recommend appropriate treatments for the patient.
