Coronary Heart Disease
Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a type of heart disease that affects the coronary arteries, which are the blood vessels that supply oxygen-rich blood to the heart. It is one of the most common causes of death in industrialized countries, and is a major cause of disability and premature death. Risk factors for CHD include high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, obesity, and a sedentary lifestyle. Treatment for CHD includes lifestyle changes, medication, and in some cases surgery. By controlling these risk factors, it is possible to reduce the risk for CHD and prevent its occurrence.
