Purine Metabolism

Purine metabolism is the process by which purines, a type of amino acid, are broken down in the body to form uric acid. It is critical for the proper functioning of the human body and is involved in the breakdown of proteins, nucleic acids, and other biomolecules. Additionally, it is essential for cellular energy production and waste disposal. Benefits of regulating purine metabolism include regulation of inflammation, cardiovascular health, and immune system function. Impairment of purine metabolism can lead to various health problems, such as gout and kidney stones.
