Overview

Protein complexes are large assemblies of multiple proteins and other macromolecules that perform essential biological functions in living cells. The formation of protein complexes enables specific and coordinated regulation of biological processes. These complexes are involved in many cellular activities, including DNA replication, transcription of genetic information, translation of genetic instructions into proteins, and cell signaling. The study of protein complexes is essential to understanding the physiological and pathological mechanisms of diseases as well as drug development. By identifying and understanding the structure and function of protein complexes, scientists can develop new strategies for drug discovery and personalized medicine.
