Gel Electrophoresis

Gel Electrophoresis is a technique used in biochemistry and molecular biology laboratories to separate molecules, such as DNA or proteins, based on their size and electrical charge. It is a highly useful technique in the biotechnology and medical industries, as it allows researchers to quickly and accurately analyse and identify different molecules. The process involves the application of an electric field to a gel matrix that consists of an agarose or polyacrylamide gel, which then causes molecules to migrate through the gel until they reach their destination. This technique allows for the resolution of complex mixtures of molecules and is used in many applications such as DNA sequencing, genotyping, cloning, and protein structure identification. Gel Electrophoresis has revolutionized the ability to study and identify molecules and has a wide range of uses including forensic science, food testing, and medical diagnostics.
