Cardiology

Cardiology is the branch of medicine focused on the study and treatment of diseases related to the heart and blood vessels. It is a critical specialty in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, which are the leading cause of death worldwide. Cardiologists diagnose, manage and treat conditions that affect the cardiovascular system, including heart disease, stroke, coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, high blood pressure, peripheral artery disease and congenital heart defects. They use a variety of imaging and other diagnostic tests to evaluate the health of the heart and blood vessels, as well as lifestyle interventions, medications and surgeries to treat cardiovascular conditions. Cardiology is an important area of medicine that helps ensure the health and well-being of individuals.
