Biostratigraphy
Biostratigraphy is an essential tool for geological research, which uses the fossilized remains of plants and animals to establish the relative ages of sedimentary rocks. By studying the fossils found within these rocks, scientists can identify the temporal and spatial distribution of particular species, and determine the rate at which these species evolved over time. This information can be used to piece together a chronology of Earth's history and to reconstruct the ancient environments in which these species lived. In addition, biostratigraphy is an invaluable tool for petroleum exploration, providing essential data that helps guide exploration activities.
