Bioprocess Engineering

Bioprocess engineering is the use of principles from engineering, biology and chemistry to design, analyze, construct and operate biological systems. It focuses on the development of bioprocesses, which comprise of a series of steps to convert biological materials such as plants, microorganisms, cells and enzymes into useful products for industry, and for other applications. These bioprocesses are used extensively in the healthcare, food and pharmaceutical industries. By applying engineering principles, the effectiveness and efficiency of bioprocesses can be improved. This is important for production of safe and cost-effective products to meet the demands of the market. Bioprocess engineering is an important field of study that is becoming increasingly important due to the growing demand for natural and bioproducts.
