Overview

Bionanotechnology combines principles from biology and nanoscience to develop devices and systems on the nanoscale, with applications ranging from individual cells and molecules to tissues and whole biological organisms. It is often used to develop new materials for use in medicine, such as drug delivery, imaging, and tissue engineering. By working at such a tiny scale, bionanotechnology also offers the potential to advance understanding of complex biological processes, giving insight into diseases and treatments. Ultimately, bionanotechnology could lead to the development of safer, more effective treatments with fewer side effects.
