Biometrical Genetics
Biometrical genetics is an area of study that applies quantitative methods to the analysis of genetic variation. It is used to identify the genetic basis of phenotypic differences between individuals or populations. It is also used to assess the genetic effects of selection, inbreeding, and other evolutionary processes. Its importance rests on the fact that it enables the estimation of genetic parameters, like the heritability of traits, which is widely used in agriculture, animal and plant breeding, public health, and conservation biology.
