Biomechanics
Biomechanics is the study of the body and its mechanical movements. It uses principles from engineering and the physical sciences to analyze and understand the motions of the human musculoskeletal system. Biomechanics is important for many areas of research, including sports, medical care, orthopedics, robotics, and ergonomics. Through biomechanics, healthcare professionals can develop programs to improve performance, reduce the risk of injury, and assist in the rehabilitation of a person after an injury. For athletes and coaches, biomechanics can provide insights into movement and technique to optimize performance. In the medical field, biomechanics allows for the study of the structure and function of the musculoskeletal system to assist with diagnosis and treatment. It can also be used to further our understanding of how the body works and the effects of aging and disease.
