Overview

Biochemistry Protein Chemistry is the study of proteins and their chemical and physical properties. Proteins are essential macromolecules, composing a variety of structures in all living organisms. They are involved in a wide range of biological activities, such as providing structure, catalyzing biochemical reactions, and communicating signals within and between cells. Protein chemistry plays a pivotal role in furthering our understanding of the complex mechanisms of life. Studying the chemistry of proteins gives insight into the mechanisms of disease and how therapeutic agents interact with their targets. Protein chemistry is also essential for the development of diagnostics and biotechnological applications.
