Overview

Biochemistry is the study of biological processes at the chemical level. It explores the structure, function and interactions of the molecules in cells, tissues and organisms, and the chemical reactions that occur in living creatures. Understanding the complex biochemistry of a cell allows scientists to develop treatments and cures for diseases, and also gives us insights into how organisms evolved. Biochemistry is an essential field for advancing our knowledge of the life sciences and its applications have led to significant advances in medicine, nutrition, biotechnology, and other areas.
