Biomaterials

Biomaterials are materials used in medical devices and other biotechnologies to interact with biological processes. They greatly enhance the safety of healthcare treatments and the effectiveness of new treatments and therapies. They are made of biocompatible substances such as proteins, ceramics, polymers, and metals, and are often used in the production of implants, drug delivery systems, artificial organs, and prosthetics. Biomaterials also play an important role in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, which are revolutionising healthcare. They can also be used for regenerative therapies as well as for diagnosis and imaging. Ultimately, biomaterials are helping to improve the quality of life for patients around the world.
