Type 2 Diabetes
Type 2 diabetes is a chronic condition in which the body does not properly use or make enough insulin, a hormone that helps convert sugar, starches, and other food into energy. It is the most common form of diabetes, affecting millions of people worldwide. Risk factors for type 2 diabetes include obesity, family history, age, and physical inactivity. Treatments include lifestyle changes (such as weight loss, healthy eating, and physical activity), medications, and, for some, insulin therapy. Improving type 2 diabetes prevention and management can reduce symptoms, reduce complications, and improve quality of life.
