Prediabetic State
Prediabetes is a condition that can occur before full-blown Type 2 diabetes. It is characterized by elevated blood glucose levels that are higher than normal, but not high enough to be categorized as diabetes. People with prediabetes are at an increased risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke. A regular exercise program, healthy diet and lifestyle changes can help prevent the onset of Type 2 diabetes in prediabetic individuals, thus reducing their risk of developing serious health complications. Early detection and monitoring of prediabetes is important in order to prevent these conditions from progressing.
