Ketosis

Ketosis is a metabolic state in which the body utilizes fat for energy instead of carbohydrates for energy. This occurs when the body does not have enough carbohydrates available for energy and begins to break down fat for energy instead. This process produces molecules called ketones, which can be measured in the blood. Ketosis is often used to treat and manage certain medical conditions, such as diabetes, obesity, and epilepsy. It is also used as a weight management tool as it provides a source of energy while promoting fat and weight loss.

Bioinformatics has multidisciplinary uses and can be interrelated to many subjects. Computers are used to gather, store, analyze and integrate biological and genetic information which can then be applied to gene-based drug discovery and development. It's application in various fields is studied by JBD and emphasis is laid on diabetes.
