Endocrinology
Endocrinology is a branch of biology and medicine that studies the endocrine system, which is responsible for the production and release of hormones that control many of the body's functions such as growth, metabolism, sexual development, reproduction, and mood. Disruptions in the endocrine system can lead to conditions such as obesity, infertility, diabetes, and thyroid diseases, among others. Endocrinologists are medical doctors trained to diagnose and treat these conditions and help patients manage their long-term health needs. Endocrinology is an important field of medicine since hormone-related diseases are highly prevalent in the population and can profoundly affect quality of life.
