Diseases of Diabetes
Diabetes is a chronic health condition marked by a high level of glucose in the blood. It results from either the body not producing enough insulin or the body’s inability to appropriately use insulin, which is the hormone responsible for regulating blood sugar levels. Left untreated, diabetes can lead to a variety of serious health problems including heart disease, kidney failure, blindness and amputation. The good news is that it can be managed with proper nutrition, exercise and medication.
