Overview
Diabetes is a chronic condition marked by abnormally high levels of sugar in the blood. It can cause a number of serious complications, such as heart disease, nerve damage, kidney damage, vision problems and foot problems. These complications can lead to disability and even death if they are not managed correctly. Proper management of diabetes, including regular physical activity, healthy eating, and taking medications as prescribed, can help reduce the risk of these complications. By working with healthcare professionals, people with diabetes can manage their condition and reduce the risk of serious complications.
