Blood Sugar
Blood sugar (glucose) is a simple sugar that functions as a key source of energy for the body. When food is digested, glucose is released into the bloodstream and then utilized by the cells for energy. Keeping blood sugar within an optimal range is important for maintaining physical and mental health, as chronically elevated levels have been linked to diabetes and heart disease. Glucose can be monitored with a simple blood glucose test, and can be managed through healthy lifestyle choices, such as eating a balanced diet, getting regular physical exercise, avoiding tobacco and alcohol, and maintaining a healthy weight.
