Psychiatric Nursing

Psychiatric Nursing is a type of nursing practice dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental health conditions. As a specialized form of nursing, psychiatric nursing uses evidence-based interventions to assess and treat mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and other mental health conditions. Psychiatric nurses are often the frontline practitioners in the mental health care system and play an important role in delivering patient-centered care. They provide emotional support to patients, collaborate with providers to develop individualized treatment plans and monitor progress, and educate patients and families about mental health and illness. The goal of psychiatric nursing is to help individuals achieve and maintain optimal mental health.
