Overview

Group therapy is a type of psychotherapy where a small number of people meet together with a trained therapist to share and explore their thoughts and feelings. Group therapy is used to address a variety of psychological subjects including depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship concerns, and substance use. It is beneficial for sufferers in terms of providing emotional and moral support and allowing individuals to connect with and learn from others in similar circumstances. It is considered to be an effective treatment as it allows group members to identify common problems, learn from one another, and provide insight and empathy to each other that can be difficult to find elsewhere. Group therapy can be provided in person or through virtual methods such as video conferencing.
