Social Support
Social support is an important factor for mental health and well-being. It refers to the emotional and instrumental support that an individual receives from their friends and family, as well as from their social groups and networks. Social support is believed to be a key factor in promoting positive physical, mental, and emotional health outcomes and protection from stress, illness, and depression. Studies have shown that those with strong social support networks are more likely to have a greater sense of security, fulfillment, and overall life satisfaction. Social support can manifest in various forms including affection, assistance, understanding, and guidance, among others. It is essential for individuals to actively seek to build and maintain healthy relationships in order to reap the full benefits of social support.
