Water-borne Diseases
Water-borne diseases are an umbrella term for illnesses caused by ingesting contaminated water, typically due to lack of proper sanitation infrastructure. These diseases are serious public health concerns in many parts of the world, and can cause severe illness and even death. Common water-borne diseases include cholera, typhoid, dysentery, and hepatitis A. To reduce the risk of water-borne diseases, proper water treatment, access to clean water for drinking and cooking, and proper sanitation systems are essential.
