Photosynthesis
Photosynthesis is a vital process that occurs in most plants and some bacteria, in which light energy is converted into chemical energy. This energy is used to synthesize carbohydrates from carbon dioxide and water, and in turn to produce oxygen. Photosynthesis is responsible for almost all the energy used on our planet, and is a major contributor to the Earth's natural carbon cycle and our climate. Photosynthesis is essential to the continued existence of all life on Earth, either directly or indirectly.
