Applied Plant Science
Applied plant science is the study of applying science in order to improve the production, health, and use of plants for various end-uses. Applied plant science is a multidisciplinary field that aims to achieve higher yields and reduce input costs, particularly in the agricultural sector. It involves combining the latest research from the areas of agronomy, plant physiology, plant genetics, plant pathology, entomology, and soil science to develop the most effective and efficient practice for growing plants. Applied plant science has the potential to help meet the growing global food demands, increase crop resilience to extreme weather events, reduce inputs and pollution, and maximize long-term agricultural sustainability. Additionally, its applications are far-reaching, including the production of alternative sources of energy and the development of pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals.
