Biomarkers

Biomarkers are biological molecules or characteristics used as indicators of a particular biological state or condition. They are used in medical research and clinical practice to help diagnose, treat, and monitor diseases, to assess an individual’s risk of developing a disease, and to assess the effectiveness of treatments. Biomarkers can also be used to predict an individual’s response to a particular drug, to identify environmental exposures and the health risks associated with them, and to identify the stages of a disease. They are an essential tool in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of disease.
