Leukemia

Leukemia is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow that is characterized by an abnormal overproduction of white blood cells. The white blood cells do not function as normal, resulting in a weakened immune system and an increased risk of infection. Leukemia is the most common type of cancer in children and can also be found in adults. Treatment typically involves chemotherapy, radiation, and/or stem cell transplants. Early detection and treatment of leukemia can improve patient outcomes and potential for long-term recovery.
