Overview

Infectious Diseases are diseases caused by the presence of a microbial agent such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites. They are most commonly spread through contact with a contaminated object, person, or animal. Infectious diseases are a major public health concern and can cause long-term damage to health, severe disability, and even death if left untreated. Vaccines and treatments are available to prevent and treat infectious diseases, but prevention is better than cure and is the key to controlling the spread of infectious diseases.
