Overview
Health policy is a set of decisions and regulations made by governments and other organizations which influence the delivery and financing of healthcare services. It provides a framework within which healthcare services are provided and identifies the roles of different stakeholders and their responsibilities. It is important in addressing issues of equity and access to healthcare, as well as in setting priorities for healthcare investments and resources. Health policy can also shape patient behaviour by influencing the design and implementation of health promotion and preventive programmes. Its significance and uses are significant in providing guidance to healthcare organisations, helping to ensure quality services, and providing the basis for evidence-based decisions.
