Rheumatoid Arthritis
Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disorder of the joints. It occurs when the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the tissues in and around the joints, causing inflammation, pain and stiffness. RA can cause long-term damage to the joints, resulting in disability and decreased quality of life. Early diagnosis and treatment of RA is essential to achieve the best possible outcome. Treatment usually involves a combination of physical therapy, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and other medications. In severe cases, surgery may be required. By managing the symptoms of RA, people can lead a normal and healthy life.
