Plant Development
Plant development is the process by which plants grow and mature over their lifespan. This involves the intricate coordination of hormones, growth factors and environmental cues to control and regulate the various cellular and molecular events that lead to the genesis and maturation of plants. Plant development is essential for the production of food, construction materials, fuel and pharmaceuticals. Plant development research is therefore important to understand and improve crop yield, design tailor-made plants with desired characteristics, and to better utilise the nutritional, medicinal and industrial potential of plants.
