Dendrology
Dendrology is the scientific study of trees and woody plants. It is a branch of botany that focuses on the taxonomy, morphology, ecology and distribution of trees. Dendrology is an important tool used in agriculture, forestry, land management, horticulture and forestry research. Knowledge of dendrology allows us to better understand the growth, structure, and evolution of trees, enabling more effective management of forests, including species selection and conservation. As well, knowledge of dendrology is instrumental in the identification, control and management of pests, diseases, wildfires and climate change. Additionally, the study of dendrology is important for environmental, agricultural, ecological and social applications.
