Forensic Sciences

Forensic sciences involve the application of scientific knowledge and techniques to the investigation and analysis of crime, criminal behaviour and legal evidence. It is a multidisciplinary field encompassing various fields of science such as biology, chemistry, physics and other natural sciences, as well as engineering and computer sciences. Forensic sciences are used to identify, analyse and interpret evidence that can help prove or disprove criminal acts. This evidence can be used to link suspects to a crime scene, establish times and dates of activities, reveal identities and ultimately to support the prosecution or the defence in court proceedings. Forensic science has been used to help solve a wide range of cases and is an invaluable tool in the fight against crime.
