Overview

Dental Forensics is a specialised branch of science that uses dental records to aid in the identification of human remains for legal and investigative purposes. Dental Forensics involves comparing known dental records of an individual, such as dental X-rays, with the teeth and supporting structures of skeletal remains. This analysis can provide significant information about the identity of the remains and even indicate the cause of death. The information obtained from dental forensics has been used to assist police in criminal investigations, as well as confirm identities of victims of disasters and mass casualties.
