Overview
System The criminal justice system is the set of government institutions, policies, procedures, and practices that are used to respond and deal with crime, enforce laws, and provide justice for individuals affected by crime. It includes law enforcement agencies such as police, prosecutors, corrections, court systems, and community programs. The criminal justice system works to protect citizens and society from criminal activity, enforce laws, and provide a structure within which justice is served. Its aim is to ensure that justice is served in a fair, impartial, and effective manner, and to deter future criminal behavior. The criminal justice system is an important part of a functioning and fair society, and its goals are to protect citizens and society from crime, promote public safety, and bring justice to those wronged by criminal behavior.
