Cellular Endocrinology

Cellular endocrinology is the study of how hormones and their receptors, both inside and outside of cells, interact on a cellular and molecular level to regulate many bodily processes. It is a branch of endocrinology which examines the role hormones play in the body, particularly how those hormones affect the growth, metabolism, and activity of cells. Researchers in this field often work to discover new ways to influence cells with hormones and to develop drugs that use hormones to treat a variety of conditions. Cellular endocrinology also has a wide range of applications, including in the fields of diabetes, cancer, and fertility, among others. By understanding how hormones and cells interact, researchers can improve treatments for many medical conditions.
