Overview

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that is characterised by difficulty in sustaining attention, hyperactivity, impulsivity and impaired executive functioning. Executive functioning is a set of cognitive abilities that enable us to plan, focus, remember and think critically. It enables us to achieve goals and complete tasks in a timely manner. Executive functioning deficits in individuals with ADHD can have a significant impact on academic performance, social interactions, and daily functioning. Treatment for executive functioning deficits in ADHD typically involves a combination of behavioural modifications, educational interventions, and medication. This can help to improve attention, organisation and task completion, as well as self-regulation. Improving executive functioning in individuals with ADHD can enable them to better manage their daily lives and reach their full potential.
