Overview

Anxiety is an emotion characterized by feelings of tension, worried thoughts and physical changes like increased blood pressure. It often occurs in response to a perceived threat or stressful event. Anxiety can be beneficial in some situations, as it can help us recognize and respond to danger. However, excessive levels of anxiety can impede our ability to function in everyday life and can lead to physical and mental health problems. Treatments for anxiety include cognitive behavioral therapy, medications, or both. With proper treatment, many people are able to manage and reduce their anxiety levels and improve their quality of life.
