Overview

Alcohol-related Disorders are conditions caused by drinking too much alcohol over a long period of time. These disorders can range from mild to moderate, to severe and can even be fatal. The most common types of alcohol-related disorders include alcohol dependence, alcohol abuse and alcohol addiction. People with these disorders are at an increased risk for physical and mental health problems, as well as an increased risk for social and financial problems. Treatment for these disorders includes counselling and support programs, medications, and Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). The proper treatment of alcohol-related disorders can lead to healthier lifestyles, improved mental and physical health, and a reduction in the risk of long-term health complications.
