Voles

Voles (microtus spp.) are small rodents native to many parts of the world. They are characterized by their compact bodies, short tails, and short legs. Voles are important components of their ecosystems, and they play a critical role in seed dispersal and soil aeration. As seed dispersers, voles can help restore damaged ecosystems, and as soil aerators, they can improve soil structure and fertility. Voles provide a food source for a variety of predators, and they are also a food source for certain species of birds. In addition, they are important research subjects in various fields such as animal behavior and ecology. Voles are an important species and can help ensure ecosystem health, soil fertility, and bird populations.
