Trichuris

trichiura Trichuris trichiura is a small, whip-shaped parasitic roundworm that lives in the intestines of humans. It is one of the most common parasites to infect humans worldwide, with an estimated 498 million people infected in 2010. Infection is caused by ingesting the eggs of the parasite, which are spread through contaminated food, water, and soil. This infection can cause severe abdominal discomfort, anemia, and malnutrition in extreme cases. Treatment of infection usually involves medication to kill the parasites, as well as improved hygiene to prevent reinfection. It is important to identify and manage Trichuris trichiura infection in order to improve the health and well-being of vulnerable populations.
