Trichinella

spiralis Trichinella spiralis is a parasitic roundworm that can cause a potentially deadly disease called trichinosis. It is found in certain animals, including bears, pigs, horses, and other carnivorous mammals. Humans become infected with Trichinella spiralis when they consume undercooked or raw meat containing the parasite. Infection can cause a variety of symptoms such as nausea, abdominal pain, fever, muscle pain, and fatigue. In some cases, infection can lead to death. Treatment for trichinosis is typically antibiotics and other measures to control symptoms. Prevention involves avoiding undercooked or raw meat, particularly from potentially infected animals.
