Triatominae

Triatominae are insects of medical importance commonly known as the "Kissing bug". They are collectors of blood that feed on the hosts including humans causing Chagas disease. As vectors of Chagas disease, they are responsible for transmitting the pathogen which leads to significant morbidity and mortality in populations. Triatominae can live in human households, hiding in cracks in walls and roofs. In addition to transmitting Chagas disease, they can also transmit other diseases, including bacterial, viral and protozoal infections. Eradication campaigns are essential to limit the spread of disease caused by Triatominae.
