Togaviruses
Togaviruses are a group of viruses that are the cause of many human and animal diseases. They use the cells of humans and animals for their replication and are transmitted through contact with bodily fluids. Togaviruses are significant because they can cause a range of serious diseases such as measles, rubella, and dengue fever. They can also cause encephalitis and aseptic meningitis in humans. Vaccines have been developed for many of these diseases, however, togaviruses are still a major cause of illness and death around the world. Treatment options include addressing the symptoms of the disease or using antiviral medications. Research is ongoing to develop effective treatments and preventions for these viruses.
